Hi there!

Since recently finishing graduate school, I now feel like I finally have the time to tackle all those projects that I’ve wanted to try but had to put off in favor of writing papers, preparing presentations, and, you know, studying. All that fun stuff.

The problem is that there are so many things I want to do that I’m having trouble focusing on getting one finished before starting on another. Especially those projects that are more time consuming (read: take too long). I already had a mighty long list when I graduated and I seem to find more new and fun things everyday. Thank you, Pinterest. And some are so cool that I want to give them a go NOW. What this leads to is a pile of half finished jewelry, blankets, handbags, collages, etc., as well as a ton of supplies. So much so that my sister has threatened to put me on hoarders! Haha, they wouldn’t take me, you can still see some of my carpet.

A friend of mine suggested that I start a blog to help keep myself accountable. Even if no one reads it, I’ll probably still feel stupid if I’ve written a post about my exciting new endeavor and then never have anything to show for it. And so, Lost Thoughts & Takeout Boxes was born. I don’t keep a LOT of takeout boxes, but it sounded better than Lost Thoughts & White Plastic Bags, so… there ya go.

I don’t consider myself particularly creative. I like to think I’m more re-creative. In other words, I’m good at finding cool stuff and saying “I could make that for way less then $25.” Then I go home and Google the crap out of it until I figure it out. Or I just ask my parents. Sometimes (and I don’t like to admit this), I have to buy something and tear it apart deconstruct it to see how it’s made before I can make my own. But only if it’s cheap, and I don’t really like the colors.

So, anyway, that’s what I’m gonna do here. Keep myself accountable by sharing my latest projects, the better/worse ways I’ve found of completing them and anything else I feel like talking about (relevant or not). But feel free to skip those parts.

Also, I’m new to this blog thing so it might take me a little while to figure out how it all works. Just a heads up.
